Celebrating the Completion of our First Africa Batch!

2023 marked a major milestone for Instilt with the launch of our first Africa batch in Rwanda. This program, founded by our CEO, Julia Stergiou, involved thirty-eight students from Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology and was led by a dedicated team of tutors. Instilt forged a powerful alliance with the Rwanda Girls Initiative (RGI) and its flagship school, Gashora Girls Academy, united by a shared belief that education is a fundamental right for everyone in spite of personal circumstances. Through this partnership, we aimed to help dismantle gender disparities in secondary education and open doors of opportunity for more female students.

Initially, students lacked confidence and were hesitant to participate in group discussions or express their ideas in writing. However, through targeted one-on-one sessions and group activities tailored to both individual and group needs, students significantly improved their speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills. Fueled by a newfound self-assurance, they left our program not just with essential communication and collaboration skills but with a passion for furthering their English learning. These skills will undoubtedly support them in their future.

Students and tutors formed a close bond, sharing a mutual love for poetry analysis that enriched their interactions and enhanced lesson quality. This shared interest not only made lessons more enjoyable but also fostered a deeper understanding of language and expression. At the graduation ceremony, many students expressed their gratitude, highlighting how the program had not only honed their skills but, more importantly, ignited a newfound confidence within them.

“Thank you very much for giving us this opportunity. I am totally sure it’s going to sharpen our English level. Be blessed for everything you’ve done for us”

- Teta Ornella Iganze

“Thank you very much for this program. It is going to help us a lot and we look forward to improving in the language”

- Sarah Rugwiroc

At the graduation ceremony, students celebrated with dances, music, and a cake shared by all. Heartfelt speeches from the students resonated deeply with the tutors, expressing genuine appreciation for the program's impact. For the tutors, the occasion was bittersweet as it marked the end of their weekly Wednesday sessions. As they reflected on their own experience, they recognized not only the students' growth but also their own personal development and the connections they had forged.
